Wyoming, Rhode Island, US is a small town in Washington County, established in 1730. It was named after the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania, which was in turn named after the Lenape word "xwé'wamənk", meaning "at the big river flat." Wyoming, RI is home to the Flying Horse Carousel, a National Historic Landmark and one of the oldest operating carousels in the US. The town has a rich history in farming and manufacturing, with several historic districts and properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
