Conway, SC, US is the county seat of Horry County, located in the northeastern part of the state. The city was founded in 1732 and was originally known as Kingston. It was renamed to Conway in 1883, in honor of Robert Conway, a local congressman. Conway is known for its historic downtown district, which features over 60 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places.
