West, Texas is a small town located in McLennan County, founded in 1882 by Isreal P. Hawn. It is known for its Czech heritage and is home to the Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center. The town was largely destroyed by a fertilizer plant explosion in 2013, but has since rebuilt. A notable attraction is the Westfest, an annual celebration of Czech culture and heritage.
