Saint Albans, Vermont, located in Franklin County, is the ninth largest city in the state. It was chartered in 1763, and named after the ancient Roman city of St. Albans in Hertfordshire, England. The city is known for its role in the American Civil War as the site of the St. Albans Raid, the northernmost land action of the war, in 1864. A notable attraction is the Taylor Park, a historic city park with a bandshell and war memorial.
