Carson, Washington is a city located in Skamania County in the state's southwestern region. Established in 1898, it was named after George Washington Carson, a general merchandise store owner. The city is home to the Carson National Fish Hatchery, which was constructed in 1901 to raise and stock fish in the Columbia River Basin. Carson is also the gateway to the popular recreational destination, the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, which offers various outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and skiing.
