Othello is a small town in Adams County, Washington, US, established in 1904. It was originally a Great Northern Railway divisional point, with the name "Desmet" until 1910, when it was changed to avoid confusion with another town in the state. The town was officially incorporated on June 23, 1910. Othello is known for the annual Sandhill Crane Festival, celebrating the migratory birds' stopover at the nearby Columbia National Wildlife Refuge, a notable landmark that also protects part of the shrub-steppe ecosystem.
