Dothan, Alabama, located in the southeastern part of the state, is the seat of Houston County. Incorporated in 1885, the city was originally a farming community, but it later became a center for the wiregrass peanut industry. The city's name comes from Genesis 37:17, where Joseph's brothers tell him, "Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again." A notable attraction is the World's Smallest City Block, located in the city's downtown area.
