Oak Brook, Illinois, located 19 miles west of Chicago, is a suburban village established in 1958. It was originally part of the DuPage County portion of the Salt Creek Township. In the 1960s and 1970s, Oak Brook experienced significant commercial and corporate growth, becoming a major business center with the headquarters of well-known companies such as Ace Hardware, Blistex, and Federal Signal. The village is home to the Oakbrook Center, one of the largest open-air shopping centers in the United States.
