Hyannis is the largest village in the town of Barnstable, Massachusetts, US. Founded in 1639, it was named after Barnstable's ancient English kin, the town of Barnstaple. Hyannis is a popular summer destination, known for its beaches, recreational opportunities, and the John F. Kennedy Museum, which honors the 35th President of the United States who maintained a summer home in the area. The village is also a commercial hub, home to the Cape Cod Potato Chips factory and the Cape Cod Melody Tent, a seasonal performing arts tent.
