Cypress, Texas, located in Harris County, is a suburban community in the Houston metropolitan area. Originally inhabited by Atakapa and Akokisa tribes, it was settled by German farmers in the 19th century. The community was named after the abundant cypress trees in the area. In 1904, the Houston and Great Northern Railroad arrived, spurring growth. A notable attraction is the Berry Center, a multi-purpose complex that includes a stadium, arena, and performing arts center. Today, Cypress is a thriving community with a population of over 170,000.
