Arlington, Virginia, located across the Potomac River from Washington D.C., is rich in history and significance. It was originally part of the District of Columbia before becoming Arlington County in 1846. The county is named after Henry Bennet, the Earl of Arlington, and is best known as the site of Arlington National Cemetery, where over 400,000 service members and their families are laid to rest.
