Bluefield, VA, US is a city in Tazewell County, located in the southwestern part of the state. It was established in the late 19th century as a result of the expansion of the railroad industry. The city is named after the blue fields of flax that once grew in the area. Bluefield is known for its scenic location in the Appalachian Mountains and the historic Bluefield College, a private liberal arts college founded in 1922.
