Northridge, CA, US is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. It was originally inhabited by the Tongva people before the Spanish arrived in the late 18th century. The area was later part of the Mexican land grant, Rancho El Escorpión, in 1834. Northridge became a separate incorporated city in 1962, but it was later annexed by Los Angeles in 1972. The neighborhood is home to California State University, Northridge, which is known for its prominent athletic programs and its award-winning journalism school.
