Mio is a village in Oscoda County, Michigan, United States. It was established in 1881 and incorporated in 1907. The village is named after the Miami River in Ohio, which was misinterpreted by early surveyors. Mio is known for the largest crucifix in the world, located at the Holy Family Catholic Church, which was built in 1959. The crucifix stands 28 feet tall and is a significant local attraction.
