McCleary, Washington, located in Grays Harbor County, was incorporated in 1910. The town was named after Robert W. McClary, a pioneer settler and sawmill operator. McClary's mill, established in the 1800s, played a significant role in the area's early development. Today, the town is known for its annual Loggers Playday, a celebration of the region's logging history, which includes events such as the Loggers Jubilee Parade and the Stumpmic Competition. The historic Chief Trees Grove, home to some of the largest western red cedars in the world, is a notable attraction near McCleary.
