Marietta, Pennsylvania, US is a borough located in Lancaster County. It was founded in 1786 by Daniel Skinner, a river boatman, and was originally named Skinners Eddy. The town was later renamed to Marietta after Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France. The borough is home to the Rock Ford Plantation, a historic site that was the home of Edward Hand, an adjutant general to George Washington during the American Revolution. Today, Marietta has a population of approximately 2,700 people.
