Clinton, Maryland is a historic town located in Prince George's County. It was founded in 1873 and named after the former Governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton. The town was a stop on the Baltimore & Potomac Railroad and played a significant role in the Civil War as a supply base for the Union Army. Today, Clinton is known for the Surratt House Museum, a former tavern that was a stop on the Underground Railroad and later served as a Confederate spy ring headquarters. The town has a population of approximately 35,000 and offers a variety of recreational and cultural activities.
